A team from the National Association of Resource Teachers (NART) participated in the second international meeting of the SELsMINE project partners in Valladolid, Spain. The forum took place on March 28th and 29th this year. During the meeting, the progress and activities of each partner organization were presented, as well as the developed methodological materials.
The activities focus on the development of social-emotional learning skills to improve academic achievements, emphasizing five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, effective communication, and responsible decision-making. A Handbook on social-emotional competencies was also presented, highlighting individual abilities, attitudes, and characteristics that are essential for success and social functioning.
Based on the presented competencies, the University of Valladolid will develop an educational module in Minecraft. In the coming months, the project partners will create questions and scenarios around the five competencies, which will be incorporated into Minecraft. After testing, the module will be piloted with children aged 8-13 years.
