Between June 29 and July 2, a Summer School on School Inclusion was held in the town of Nessebar. This was the seventh edition of the school, which brings together specialists in the field of inclusive education from across the country. Experts from the Ministry of Education and Science, regional education directorates, and regional centers supporting the inclusive education process participated in the event. This year, 75 resource teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, and other experts in the field took part.

The school was opened by Dr. Kaloyan Damyanov, director of the Regional Center for Support of Inclusive Education (RCPSIE) – Sofia City, and Ms. Blagovesta Borcheva, state expert at the Ministry of Education and Science. During the school, Ms. Blagovesta Borcheva presented the project “Support for Inclusive Education, Activity 1. Models and Tools for Inclusive Education of Children and Students: Development and Implementation of a Functional Assessment Model.” Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive more information about the project activities.

The topics of the school included “Practicum for Support and Training of Children and Students with Hyperactivity, Attention Deficit, and Problem Behavior,” led by Dr. Tsvetomira Angelova, and “Contemporary Trends in Therapeutic Support – a ‘Bridge’ Between Therapy and Inclusive Education,” led by Anna Ivanova.

Kalina Hristova and Liliya Kisyova from RCPSIE – Sofia City presented the “Methodological Guide for Adapting the Curriculum Content for Students with Special Educational Needs in the First Grade of High School” under the National Program “Development of Teaching Aids and Methodological Guides, Evaluation and Approval of Projects for Teaching Aids to Support Education Organized Abroad, Projects for Textbooks, and Projects for Teaching Kits” of the Ministry of Education and Science. All participants in the school received a free edition of the methodological guide for adapting curriculum content.
