We have just completed another project meeting of AiM – Autism in Motion in beautiful Coimbra, Portugal.

This was a particularly important meeting, as the project is approaching its final stage. It was time to summarize the work completed so far and, above all, to prepare for the upcoming research activities using the five VR applications developed within the project.

Once again, we are proud to contribute our technological expertise to an area where computer science can have a very human and meaningful impact: developing solutions that can support activities and therapeutic approaches for children on the autism spectrum. This is also a reminder that behind every application, line of code and research protocol there is something much more important — responsibility for the children who will ultimately use the solutions we create.

And Coimbra gave us the perfect setting for combining serious work with a wonderfully warm atmosphere. There were focused discussions, important decisions and plenty of responsibility — but also lots of laughter, friendship and excellent Portuguese weather.

Our hosts took wonderful care of us, making us feel truly at home — or perhaps even a little bit like we were in heaven.

There was plenty for both the mind and the soul… and definitely for the stomach! We experienced beautiful Fado, discovered wonderful traditional Portuguese cuisine and, most importantly, enjoyed being together as a project team.

A productive meeting, great people, serious goals, good humour and unforgettable Portuguese hospitality. Obrigado, Coimbra!
