Today, the final conference of the project “Promoting Affective Development in Youth with Intellectual Disabilities” (Giaff4ID) has taken place.

Members of the National Association of Resource Teachers (NARU), representatives from partner organizations, and the project partners participated in the conference. During the conference, Dr. Emanuela Stoylova from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” explained the main ways to stimulate the development of affectivity in youth with intellectual disabilities.

Following that, the main results of the project were presented: the key conclusions from the European report on the state of affective learning and the needs of youth with intellectual disabilities, including findings from interviews conducted with them. Subsequently, the topic “Youth Participation in Their Communities through the Development of Materials that Enhance the Skills of Youth Workers in Relationship Building” was presented, along with a youth perspective on participating in this project. Special attention was also given to the specifics and experiences of working with children with intellectual disabilities.

The audience had the opportunity to become familiar with the Handbook for Youth Workers on working with youth with intellectual disabilities to promote affectivity, as well as the Compendium of Educational Games to promote affectivity. Using the “World Café” method, the event participants interacted with the games and provided their recommendations for their use.
