The National Association of Resource Teachers (NART) is once again organizing a summer edition of the School for School Inclusion. This year, it has been held at the “Primoretz” hotel in Burgas, with training and lectures taking place at the “Sea Casino” Cultural Center. The “Georgi Baev” hall is provided for use with the assistance of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the municipality of Burgas.
The school was opened by Kalina Christova, chairperson of NART, and Dr. Kaloyan Damanov, Director of RCPPPO – Sofia-city. The event also welcomed Boyana Aleksov, Chief Expert in the “Inclusive Education” Directorate at the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as Prof. Dr. Milen Zamfirov, Dean of the Faculty of Special Education at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”
After the opening, Prof. Zamfirov presented the topic “Can Jean Piaget be a Resource Teacher in Bulgaria?”
As part of the event, Dr. Kaloyan Damanov will address the topic “Engagement with Parents in Inclusive Education.” The training for this year’s edition of the school is titled “Motor Development and Learning – The Role of Physical Activity in Children with Special Educational Needs.”
The main goal of the training is for participants to become familiar with the specifics of development, communication, and education of children and students on the autism spectrum. In this context, key therapeutic approaches and practical guidelines will be presented to support the adaptation process and their full inclusion in a general educational environment. The course has a practical focus. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Center for Applied Behavioral Analysis for Children with Autism and Complex Therapy, opened by the “Autism Today” Association. There, participants will have the chance to observe a therapeutic session with children from the center’s program and learn more about the work of the specialists involved.
