On July 13th and 14th, 2023, representatives of the National Association of Resource Teachers (NART) participated in a partner meeting for the project “Games for Improving the Emotional Skills of Young People with Intellectual Disabilities,” funded under Key Action 2 of the Erasmus+ program. The meeting was hosted by the OpenEurope Educational Services Association from Reus (Catalonia, Spain).
The partners presented a study of the national legislation, practices, and environment in each partner country related to sexual education and the development of emotional skills for young people with intellectual disabilities.
The conclusions and recommendations will be included in a European report, which will be presented in September. The results of the interviews conducted with young people aged 14-23 were also discussed. These interviews supplemented our data on the various ways young people with intellectual disabilities seek and receive information on topics related to sexual education and health, and they form the basis for the development of training games within the current project.
The project partners – NART (Bulgaria), Open Europe (Spain), CRES (Italy), EILD (Greece), EASPD (Belgium), and ZICEV (Turkey) – planned the next activities, which include the development of materials for youth workers interested in engaging in training on sexual education and health for young people with intellectual disabilities.
