Another online meeting for the project “Building an Inclusive Society through Support for Early Childhood Education and Care for the Development of Social-Emotional Competencies in Preschool Children” (BE-CHILD) 2019-1-IS01-KA201-051137 was held on October 4, 2021. The meeting reported the results of a study on building social-emotional competencies in children aged 0–6 years. NARU is a partner in the project, with the University of Reykjavik, Iceland, as the lead organization.
Partners from Iceland, Italy, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, and Romania discussed upcoming activities for creating a toolkit to support the development of social-emotional competencies in early childhood, aimed at assisting teachers and parents. Among the social-emotional competencies to be developed through specialized individual and group activities are: self-esteem/confidence, empathy, communication, positive thinking, creativity, and many others.
The project focuses on identifying and sharing good practices for teaching social-emotional skills from an early age, using collaborative action research involving both researchers and teachers. The goal is to provide practical tools and strategies that help children practice conflict resolution, empathy, solidarity, and communication, supporting their healthy social and emotional development.
