The first Bulgarian primer designed for students whose mother tongue is different from Bulgarian is now freely available on the website prepodavame.bg. Teachers can use it in the new school year as supplementary material to help develop reading skills, according to the “Together in Class” Foundation. This non-governmental organization has been working for over 10 years to ensure equal access to quality education for every child.

The primer “Reading with Asya and Yavor” is also suitable for Bulgarian children living abroad who have limited contact with the Bulgarian language, for early-grade students who experience difficulties with reading in primary school (up to grades 2–3), and for all children who want to learn to read.

Speech therapists and specialists in early bilingual development created the first Bulgarian primer for students with a different mother tongue who do not have sufficiently developed Bulgarian language skills upon entering school.

The primer includes three separate books:

                •             A primer for children;

                •             A teacher’s guide with instructions for use;

                •             “My Letters” – an appendix for making tactile letters.

More information about the primer’s concept, contents, and advantages can be found here.
