On May 24, 2021, at the Palace of Culture in the city of Pernik, a ceremony will be held in celebration of May 24 – the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and Slavic literacy. At 10:00 a.m., the festive parade of Pernik’s students and teachers will begin, led by the student orchestra of the 6th Secondary School.

In front of the Palace of Culture at 11:00 a.m., the main part of the celebration will commence with a ceremony for the raising of the national flag of the Republic of Bulgaria and the awarding of distinctions “For Contribution” in the fields of education, culture, and journalism. Distinguished directors of institutions in these fields will be honored. The award plaque will be presented by the Mayor of Pernik, Mr. Stanislav Vladimirov, to Mrs. Yordanka Georgieva, director of the Regional Center for Support of Inclusive Education – Pernik Region.
