On August 31, 2021, a transnational online meeting was held for the project “Building an Inclusive Society through Support for Early Childhood Education and Care for the Development of Social-Emotional Competencies in Preschool Children” (BE-CHILD) 2019-1-IS01-KA201-051137. NARU is a partner in the project, with the lead organization being the University of Reykjavik, Iceland.
The main topic was the presentation of results from a study on building social-emotional competencies in children aged 0–6 years. Partners from Iceland, Italy, Bulgaria (National Association of Resource Teachers), the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Romania presented the results in national reports on the topic. Developing emotional intelligence is of great importance for forming social experience in early childhood, for adaptation in kindergarten, and later in school, because emotions are the main driving force for any type of “learning” during this period. The intentional planning of the formation of social-emotional competencies also helps with concentration, the development of motivation for learning, and the reduction of anxiety.
The national report in Bulgarian and English can be found at:
At the meeting on August 31, 2021, preparations began for the second intellectual output – the creation of a TOOLKit for the development of social-emotional competencies in early childhood to support teachers and parents.
