NARU Volunteers Actively Involved in Teaching Foreign Languages in Sofia Volunteers from the National Association of Resource Teachers in Bulgaria are supporting the teaching of German and English in Sofia schools. The activities are implemented under a project of the European Solidarity Corps programme, which started last year and is aimed at students at risk of dropping out of the education system. On one hand, the young people gain valuable experience for their future realisation, and on the other hand, they support Bulgarian students from at-risk groups and vocational schools to improve their educational results and personal development and career orientation. Volunteers from Germany and Turkey are visiting two schools in the capital – the National Trade and Banking School and the 124th Primary School. “Vasil Levski”. They believe that education is one of the most important foundations for the future development of children and young people because it shapes their views, values and lifestyles. They share that actively volunteering and helping brings them great inspiration and satisfaction. The young people are also involved in the activities of RCPPPO Sofia-city in working with children with special educational needs. They enrich their experience in joint activities with resource specialists, psychologists, resource teachers and other specialists.
