On 14 May 2026, the final conference of the international project “ATOLLO: Breaking Barriers through Education”, co-funded by the European Union, was held in Pula, Croatia.

The conference brought together more than 200 participants in both onsite and online formats, including representatives of educational institutions, universities, schools, ministries, research organizations, and experts in inclusive and digital education from various European countries.

During the event, the main outcomes of the ATOLLO project were presented. The project focused on the development of accessible and inclusive digital educational resources for learners with special educational needs. As part of the project, 45 digital learning modules were developed in six languages and organized into four levels of support, allowing educational content to be adapted to the individual needs of students.

The conference programme included presentations by project partners, reports on the piloting of the educational resources in different European countries, and discussions on the future of inclusive digital education. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of developing educational technologies and digital content that comply with the principles of accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

During the panel discussion, “What’s Next? Mainstreaming Inclusive Digital Education,” participants explored opportunities for the sustainable implementation of the good practices developed within the project, as well as the policies and partnerships needed to promote inclusive education at both national and European levels.

On 15 May 2026, the consortium’s final working meeting took place, during which partners discussed the project’s final activities, the preparation of reporting documentation, and measures to ensure the sustainability and future dissemination of the resources developed under the project.

The ATOLLO project demonstrated how international cooperation among educational institutions, universities, schools, and experts can contribute to creating a more accessible, high-quality, and inclusive educational environment for all learners.

The conference was attended by Petya Dimitrova, representative of NARU, and Stela Ivanova, Chief Expert at the Inclusive Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria.
