Representatives of NARU – Stilyana Sirakova and Desislava Konsulova – participated in a training within the international project Autism in Motion, held in Nicosia, Cyprus. Together with partners from Greece, Poland, Portugal, and the host organization from Cyprus, the participants exchanged good practices and worked on the development of interactive educational activities for children on the autism spectrum.
Within the project, VR games were presented and tested, aimed at enhancing children’s concentration, social skills, and sensory engagement through an immersive and safe digital environment. Participants had the opportunity to observe how virtual reality can be used as a tool to facilitate the acquisition of new skills and to create a more motivating learning environment.
Special attention was also given to activities using Makey Makey – an innovative tool that allows the creation of interactive games and exercises by connecting everyday objects to a computer. This approach encourages learning through play, develops creativity, and supports active participation of children in the educational process.
During the meeting at the Emphasys Centre, a training platform for teachers and parents, developed within the project, was also presented. The platform provides resources, practical guidelines, and digital tools for working with children with autism both in school and home environments.
